Background
Each year, over 2 million patients in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer, and more than 600,000 undergo tumor removal surgery. Despite curative treatment, up to 20–50% of patients may experience recurrence depending on cancer type, and millions live with metastatic disease—the leading cause of cancer mortality. Today, there are no therapies specifically designed to intercept circulating tumor cells during the critical perioperative window, when recurrence risk is highest. This represents a major clinical and economic burden, with recurrent cancer costing healthcare systems thousands of dollars per patient each month.
Unmet Clinical Need
CTCapture by OnConquer Medical addresses a critical gap in cancer care during the perioperative and early postoperative period—a time when surgical removal of a tumor can release circulating tumor cells (CTCs) into the bloodstream, while patients are not yet receiving systemic therapy and are temporarily immunosuppressed. Today, no approved treatment specifically targets these cells in circulation during this high-risk window. CTCapture is designed to intercept and capture CTCs directly from the bloodstream before they can form new metastases, offering a simple, non-drug approach that complements existing cancer treatments and aims to reduce the risk of recurrence.
